Our guest presenter will be Simon Cassin, Director at OUCH Training Team, who will be discussing values. Simon says “Values are easy, everyone has exactly the same values and always behaves in a way which is commensurate with those common values, WRONG. When we say something is of value what do we mean? Does it mean it always has value and is equally valued by everyone? What if we value a few things and situations occur when we must choose one value over another? As you can see, values can be tricky. In this short presentation I will try and provide a base from which we can build our understanding of values. We will consider the difference between instrumental and final values and briefly consider how an ethical framework can help develop a values based approach to working in a safe and healthy way.”
