Charles Tracey Dips LUT. CFIOSH. MISRP. JP. I am a LOHSG Member since 1981, and on the Executive in the 80's and Chairman in the 90.s. I am Vice President and Trustee over the last 20 years to the present day. I am also a member of IOSH over 20 years and a Chartered Fellow chairing Fellowship Interview panels. I am also Chair / Convenor of ISO and CEN Committees for over 20 years.
Chairman and Treasurer
I ensure that LOHSG operates to its maximum potential, and guides it's decision making to ensure all our members have access to any health and safety information they require through the various presentations and the knowledgeable professionals involved with the group. I have been a safety professional since 2003 working in various industries including construction, engineering, manufacturing and food ensuring that all of the workforce had worked safely and returned home safe after each shift. I joined LOHSG group in 2009 first as a member then joined the executive committee in 2010, I was then appointed Vice Chairman (2014) and then Chairman and Treasurer (2018)
I assist and stand in for the Chairman as required, and also updates and maintains our LOHSG website. I has more than 25 years' experience in Health and Safety and a member of the Institution of Occupational Safety and Health (IOSH) and the International Safety Quality Environment Management Association - ISQEM. I am committed to providing a safe and healthful workplace and have worked for a number of industries including manufacturing, food, energy, steel, transport and storage and recycling. In my spare time I enjoy walking, cycling and reading and when I have a free weekend I enjoy visiting the Lake District.
I maintain and run our social media accounts on LinkedIn, Twitter and Facebook. I have 23 year's experience in Occupational Health and Safety specialising in manufacturing, small construction and office safety. I also run my own health and safety consultancy and training business based in St. Helens, focussing on helping small and medium sized businesses to improve their health and safety management. My greatest achievement was winning the SHP IOSH Consultant of the Year Award in 2009.
Secretary and Members Secretary
Stuart is our Secretary and is responsible for the day-to-day running of the groups information systems, event planning, and member engagement. He’s been involved in health and safety for over 15 years in numerous capacities within the companies he has worked at. A committee member of IOSH Manchester and Northwest Districts since 2013, he was previously Secretary of the branch for five years and supported the committee in adapting from face-to-face to virtual meetings during the pandemic. He is committed to raising the profile of the work of the occupational health and safety profession and supporting the IOSH vision, for a safer and healthier world of work, and the IIRSM vision to lead the way in managing risk, safety, and health to benefit people and business. In his spare time, he is a voracious learner, often with two or three books on the go at the same time! His favourites being those on influence and persuasion. He has two dogs, Fred and Finn, who make sure he keeps fit with walks three times a day.
I have been an active member of the Lancashire Occupational Health and Safety Group since October 2020. In this time, I have been elected to the Executive Committee where I play an active role in supporting the committee to undertake its ongoing functions to deliver the high-level engagement sessions and provide competent support where necessary. I have been undertaking a full-time role within H&S since 2008, where I started out as a Union Safety Representative on the National Railway Network. Since that time, I have undertaken a number of employed H&S Practitioner roles, from H&S Advisor to H&S Manager, Head of HSE to the present day as H&S Director within the Housing Development Construction Sector. Within my time as a practitioner, I have gained experience in many different industries, such as but not limited to, Construction, Fire Safety, Leisure and Retail, Motor Vehicle Repair, Oil and Gas, Railways Social Care and Warehousing. I joined the Team about four years ago and have attended LOHSG meetings and seminars for 10 years. I have a NEBOSH General Certificate and my main H&S role was for a small engineering company looking after Health and Safety in general. I also looked after the sister company in Rochdale. My aim is to help get this group back to having a minimum of sixty members, providing a group that can offer good health and safety advise and guidance when needed.
